Students can be a part of the lab in several ways :
- volunteers – for those curious about a first try at research
- Directed Studies projects – course credit for doing research
- summer research assistants – get paid to do research
- Honours degree – for undergraduates who want to step right into research
- Masters degree – in depth graduate-level research
- PhD degree – available via co-supervision with faculty at other universities
There are many potential student projects:
- field or lab behaviour of invertebrates (including underwater with SCUBA)
- computer-based video analysis of behaviours
- neurobiology of slugs and snails
- microscopy exploring nervous system anatomy
- mathematical modeling of behaviour
- studies of marine biofouling and antifouling
